Describing Pros and Cons:

OFFICE BOY AT THE AMERICAN OPTICAL COMPANY.

The only unusual job I can think of was the one I carried out when I came to the USA. I was some kind of an office boy. I received the prescriptions that came to our optical shop through the shop supervisor who handed over the prescriptions to one of the employees that worked with me or he gave it directly to me.

I received the prescription and had to choose the frame and lenses according to the characteristics given by the specialists that worked with our Company. I put the items I had chosen put them in a tray, and handed them over to our processing supervisor who distributed the work to his personnel.

Our optical shop was small and we were about 20 employees, including management. This small shop was located in downtown St. Louis, Mo. I lived outside St. Louis and had to travel a long way home.

ADVANTAGES:

Management was good and the manager was carismathic and people oriented.

It was a small shop and I got along well with all the workers.

Despite the long distance I had to drive every day home and to work, it was my first job in the USA and it was a clean and decent job.

It was a good opportunity to find a more suitable and better job, because they hired me a week after I had arrived to the USA.

DISADVANTAGES:

Salary wasn't good, but enough to survive the first year in this country.

In order to get promoted you had to become a member of the Worker's Union, which I didn't like so much about it.

The job level wasn't good enough to meet my working abilities and personal goals.

Our optical shop was small and we

I'm not sure about an unusual job but I think that tour guide sounds diferent. I know that actually isn't unusual but, why a person'd like to do that? I don't know; could be pasion?
I mind that the answer is yes....
so what about advantages?
maybe you can know a lot of places and people but if I'm a tour guide the most important thing for me will be can see a lot of people happy because for me will be very rewarding. about disadvantages I think that there aren't because when you do something like that so unusual, is because you like it and when you like something you're agree when all that you have to do.

I think that an unusual job in the big cities is a person who sells cell phone minutes in the streets.

This occupation have many advantages like:
- Don´t pay taxes
- don´t need a office.
- Working for him or herself.
- Only need a cell phone and time.
- It´s very easy job.
- Having free time when he or she want.

But this job have disadvantages like:
- Attending on the streets.
- Standing up many hours.
- Walking every day.
- Bearing the cars´ noise and pollution, bearing the environmental conditions like sun and rain.
- The healt is in risk.

About today's presentation, I chose to speak of Dan Brown's book: " The Da Vinci Code ". This is a summary of the book: The Da Vinci Code is a fictitious mystery/detective novel written by American author Dan Brown, published in 2003 by Doubleday.

The novel that might also be classified within the genres of : Thriller, Crime, Mystery and Religion, is based on the controversial premise that there is a conspiracy within the Catholic Church to cover up the true story of Jesus. According to this premise, the Vatican knows it is living a lie but continues to do so to keep itself in power. It has helped generate popular interest in speculation concerning the Holy Grail lrgend and the role of Mary Magdalene in the history of Christianity. From a religious point of view, some critics consider it sacrilegious, and condemn the many negative implications about the Catholic Church and Opus Dei.

It is a worldwide bestseller with more than 60.5 million copies in print ( as of May 2006 ) and has been translated into 44 languages. Dan Brown's novel was a smash hit in 2003, even rivaling the sales of the highly popular Harry Potter series.

I chose to speak about three of the main topics in the book:

The Council of Nicea in 325.

The Secret of the Holy Grail:

The Last Supper

The Mona Lisa

The Priory of Sion

I don't include here the explanation of these topics, in order not to increase the summary of this book.
